The difference between a photo essay and a single photo about the same topic is that a photo essay is a collection of photos that work together to make a story about the photos and a single photograph leaves it up to the viewer to decide what is happening in it. Photography is well suited for the essay format because you can have a line of photos that help the viewer to better understand with each one.

The topic that I have chosen for my photo essay is the causes and affects of cancer. The key story I hope to tell in my photo essay is how cancer has affected my family and I. In my photo essay I would potray how cancer can durasticall ychange someones life in just a second as well as everyone around them. I can easily relate to this as it has affected two of my grandparents, one of my older sisters and now my mother.
